Paul Hannaford was like any other boy who wanted to grow up and play for his local football team but when he tried cannabis at the age of 12 his life took a dramatic change. Paul was expelled from school and entered a gang where carrying knifes and other weapons was necessary. The drug use increased and by age 22 he was introduced to heroin and crack cocaine, 12 months later the 18 stone Paul was now 6 stone lighter and stealing thousands of pounds worth of merchandise to fund his addiction. Sharing needles with other addicts and having many snap off in his body, there was no where Paul wouldn't inject including his penis. Paul's body deteriorated massively and he almost lost both of his legs along with his life after having his heart restarted multiple times. Paul was in and out of prison for a lot of his life but eventually he decided his life was worth more than his addiction and now he's been clean over ten years and he shares his story on the True Geordie Podcast.
