Russia is tightening its noose on the key Ukrainian port city of Mariupol. It said over 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers have surrendered. If seized, Mariupol will be the first major city to fall to Russian forces since the February invasion. If Moscow gains full control of the port city, it will be able to bridge Russian-held areas to the west and east, providing a land corridor for its troops and supplies. The escalating situation has forced Ukrainian authorities to halt all humanitarian corridors.
