It is true that we continuously innovate and trailblaze for medical excellence. SJMC Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) Centre is yet another significant milestone we take pride in.

In 2002, we started our state-of-the-art vascular interventional angiography suite and became the first private hospital in Malaysia to pioneer this cutting-edge medical specialty. In the last decade, we have performed thousands of VIR and interventional oncology procedures.

Through a multidisciplinary approach, VIR utilises image-guidance to perform a variety of minimally invasive procedures, including:

✅Treatment of liver tumours using catheters to inject chemotherapeutic agents (chemoembolisation) or radioactive particles (radioembolisation) directly into the tumours
✅Thermal ablation of tumours through heating (microwave ablation) or freezing (cryoablation)

✅ Insertion of venous ports and catheters
✅Infertility (fallopian tube recanalisation)
✅ Uterine artery embolisation to treat uterine fibroids
