Anisul Haque was a Bangladeshi businessman, politician and television presenter. He was elected the first mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation in 2015. He was the president of BGME, later the president of THE FBCCI. He was later also in charge of the president of the SAARC chamber.
Early life
Anisul Haque was born in 1952 at Companyganj in Noakhali district of Chittagong division. He spent several years of his childhood in Sonapur village of Amirabad Union in Sonagazi in His Nanabari Feni district. [3] He graduated from Rajshahi University and completed his economics studies from Chittagong University.

Career
Television
He became known as a television presenter in the 1980s to 1990s. In his presentation, the two shows 'Anandmela' and 'Antarale' gained popularity. He also presented a show facing Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia on BTV before the 1991 elections.

Business
Anisul Haque got involved in the garment sector made by Bangladesh in the 1980s. In 1986, he founded his own business, "Mohammadi Group". [5] The group has garments, electricity, IT, housing, agro-based industries. According to 2007, the group created about 7000 jobs in the textile and clothing sector. Anisul Haque served as president of BGME from 2005 to 2006 and was elected president of fbcci, the apex body of traders in 2008. [6] From 2010 to 2012, he served as president of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was also president of BIPPA, an organization of private sector power generation companies in Bangladesh.

Political life
In 2015, Anisul Haque was nominated for mayor's post from the Awami League in the Dhaka North City Corporation elections and won.

Family
Anisul Haque's wife Rubana Haque. He is serving as managing director of Mohammadi Group. [8] They have three children, two daughters and a son. [9] Daughters Tanisha Fariaman and Wamik Umayira. Son Navidul Haque earned a higher degree in management from Bentley University in Boston. Mohammadi is currently the director of the group and is working as the managing director of Desh Energy Lee. [10] Anisul Haque's younger brother Abu Belal Mohammad Shafiul Haque is also the former Bangladesh Army Chief.

Death
Mayor Anisul Haque visited the UK with his family on a personal visit on July 29, 2017. He was admitted to the hospital on August 13 when he fell ill there. Then he was diagnosed with cerebral vascular isading of the bloodvesselsof his brain. [12] He was then put in an intensive care center and treated. He was shifted from icu to rehabilitation centre on October 31 when his condition improved. When the situation deteriorated on November 28, he was again shifted from the rehabilitation centre to the ICU and kept on life support. He died at Wellington Hospital in London at 10.23pm Bangladesh time on November 30 while undergoing treatment. [13][14] OnDecember 2, 2017, after a funeral at the Army Stadium, he was buried next to the tombs of his younger son, Sharaf and his mother, at banani cemetery.
