Hi, I'm Matt with etrailer. If you have a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and you're looking for a carrier that's pretty compact, but something that's gonna be adaptable down the line, where you can really mix and match with it, then the Saris MHS bike rack's gonna be a great option for you. So let's check it out. So first off, we can kind of check out what this kit comes with, because we are gonna have the Saris 1+1 carrier, that's gonna be the base itself. That's gonna mean you have one tray, and then one area that you can add another tray later on down the road. And then for the tray we have, we're gonna have the UNO tray.

So some things with the UNO tray is that it's a very versatile rack, it can carry a lot of different styles. So the first thing about it is, it can carry bikes up to 60 pounds, so it can even accommodate those heavy e-bikes. And we will have a pretty nice tilt. To really show you what I mean, I can come back here and just pull this with my hand. You could also use your foot, but this is a little bit high for me, so I'm gonna use my hand.

And you can lower this down. And this is so you can open up your hatch. So we can kind of see what that clearance is gonna look like. And right here, we're mainly watching for these handlebars. The biggest thing we wanna watch out for, especially if you have extra-long handlebars, is that it doesn't make contact there.

But with the bike we have today, being a mountain bike, we we inchesre still able to clear, but it's gonna depend on what type of bike you have. And the reason why you might wanna open up your hatch is so you can really, maybe put some groceries back here, or access any of your biking gear, anything like your helmet or shoes. And honestly, this would be a great spot to really tie your shoes and get ready for your ride. But once you're ready, you can close this back up, and then we can put this back into the seated position. And to put it back into the seated position, all we have to do is lift up on this carrier until it clicks into place.

That's part of the reason why I like this one in particular, because this is a smaller version of the MHS, it's just a lot lighter and easier to deal with. Now, if you wanna take a closer look at the rack, I'm gonna take off my bike, where I like to start is with this rear strap. All you gotta do is press a button, press up on it and remove that strap, just tuck it back here. The front side's gonna be a little bit different though. We're gonna have this front ratcheting hook, and this is where we really get into that adaptability. The way you'll just take this off is just by pressing this button here, pushing forward on it. But if you notice, it's not going any further than here. And the reason that is, is because Saris has actually put this into a locking position. And this is for if you have any fenders on your bike, it takes out a lot of that guesswork so you don't put it too low, but you also don't put it too high, so it doesn't interfere with anything. To simply take it outta this position though, we just have to squeeze on that lever and pull it down. This is also great for accommodating for a lot of adaptive bikes, like your carbon, alternative, or any bikes with a really nice paint job. And with it off, we can take it out for a ride. Now, something I would like to point out is, on the front of that carrier, you'll notice we're gonna have this cradle. And that cradle is the helping to support our front tire, since the front tire is gonna have the most wiggle with it. It's also gonna have this small divot in it, and that's to accommodate those skinny tires. And once you're ready to hit the road again, we just make sure we lift up on that arm, bring it back over, and you'll notice it stops right here. Like I said earlier, it just takes out that guesswork so we can line it up. But you could put it up at a higher point on that tire if you like, just in case you want it closer to your bike. And when it gets down here, it'll lock into place, so it doesn't bounce up when you're driving. And you'll notice I slid this strap down this tray, and that's really just so you can accommodate for a wider range of wheel bases. And from here we can get a few measurements. The first one I like to get is gonna be that g
