In this first We Hate Pink Minitalk, we explore feminist resistance in Iran beyond headlines and Western narratives. We speak with Shora Esmailian , an Iranian freelance journalist based in Sweden, whose work traces and documents 47 years of Iran’s political and social history, from the 1979 revolution to today’s revolts.
From women-led uprisings to workers' struggles, this conversation traces the current situation in Iran back through decades of resistance — to economic hardship, state repression, control over bodies, and enforced silence.
.
Rather than isolating feminism as a single issue, we look at how feminist movements are deeply interconnected with broader social, labour, and grassroots struggles.
At We Hate Pink , we reject sensationalism and saviour narratives. This space exists to amplify voices, dismantle orientalist stereotypes, and practice feminist solidarity rooted in listening, political alliance, and accountability.
.
If you want to understand what's happening in Iran today through context, history, and lived resistance, this conversation is for you.
