Summary: 2 Chronicles records the history of the southern kingdom of Judah from the reign of Solomon to the Babylonian captivity. The decline of Judah is disappointing, but Chronicles focuses on spiritual reformers who are passionately trying to bring the Lord's people back to God. Very little is said about the bad kings and the failures of the good kings, but the good part is emphasized. Because Chronicles takes a priestly point of view, it makes little mention of the northern kingdom of Israel, which refused to recognize the Temple in Jerusalem and worshiped idols. The Book of Chronicles concludes by informing us of the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple.
