Japan is making significant strides toward its 2% inflation target, according to Bank of Japan (BOJ) Governor Kazuo Ueda. In a recent statement, Ueda highlighted that the country is closer to achieving this goal than at any time in the past three decades. The BOJ's cautious approach reflects the challenges of transitioning from a prolonged period of ultra-low interest rates. Determining a neutral interest rate has been particularly difficult due to the long-standing low-rate environment in Japan.
