Every fire starts small. Some fire lays may begin with small shavings or feather curls which we produce with a knife. Friction fires, however, produce much less heat &, therefore, must begin even smaller...SAW DUST small.
When we begin the drilling/bowing process, we are producing material (dust) which will ignite at lower temperatures.
