FAILED PRODUCT - Why Did My FBA Product Fail - Amazon FBA UK 2019

Описание к видео FAILED PRODUCT - Why Did My FBA Product Fail - Amazon FBA UK 2019

I have been selling on Amazon for just under year and this is the first FBA product that I have decided to stop selling.

There are many reasons why a product might fail to sell or fail to make money on Amazon. I wanted to share my failure story to help others avoid making these mistakes.

These are some of the factors that I believe had an impact on the success on my private late product...

1) Unique selling point had perceived value but it didn’t make much of a difference in the real world - as per the example in the video, you could make a paper straw thicker to improve it's perceived value - however, making it thicker doesn't make it a better straw and the problem that existed for thinner straws still exists.

2) Unique selling point undermined by negative reviews inc. a negative video review - I was using the unique selling point to justify the higher asking price of my product. When the negative reviews showed that my USP wasn't worth the additional cost it made it difficult to continue making money selling this product on Amazon.

3) Launched in a very competitive low value niche (less room to manoeuvre) - With a low price point I was unable to reduce the price maintain sales, it was also very difficult to get ranked as all of the competitors were selling such high quantities.

4) Product was only viable by selling at a higher price than the niche average - Once the USP had been cast into doubt by the negative reviews I was unable to command the higher price I need for this FBA product to make a reasonable profit.

5) Went out of stock at the wrong time (switched supplier) - This usually isn't an issue, however, in this case the negative review came in at the same time as being out of stock so I had already lost ranks and relaunching became almost impossible.

6) Product wasn’t seasonal but was “newsonal” - Sales spikes from the product being featured in the news meant that my stock control went out of the window and create a long out of stock period.

7) Used Jungle Scout webapp to find product (everyone sees the same products) - Using Jungle Scouts to find products is very easy, however, everyone else is finding the same products to sell on Amazon so using JS means it is more likely that product will become more competitive.

8) VAT Registration (combined with DDP shipping) - Becoming VAT registered meant I had to sacrifice 20% of my sale price. In addition to this, as my product provided DDP shipping I was unable to claim that VAT back so I was hit from both directions by the VAT.

9) Different niche to first two products - I believe that staying in niches I know well would have improved the chance of this product making money on Amazon.

10) Didn’t manipulate reviews - As an honest seller it can be difficult to compete in niches where competitors are faking reviews.
