Mumbai Rains: IMD issues red alert for Maharashtra; schools to remain shut amid heavy rains

Mumbai experienced relentless heavy rainfall, leading the Meteorological Department to upgrade the alert from 'orange' to 'red.' The 'red' alert, in effect from Wednesday night till Thursday afternoon, warns of heavy to very heavy rainfall at some locations and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places. The Brihan mumbai Municipal Corporation stated that this alert applies to Mumbai city and suburban areas. Earlier, an orange alert was issued for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar districts, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall for July 26 and 27. The city braces for challenging weather conditions in the coming hours.
