An actual, working, vintage Neve 2254 - if you can find one - will cost you thousands of dollars, and that's before you buy the rack-chassis adapter. Who needs it? Not you, now that the Golden Age Project Comp54 Compressor is on the market.

Ok, so the Comp54 isn't an exact clone of the 2254, but at $400 retail you get a fairly impressive approximation of that classic unit's smooth, musical compression and harmonically rich sound. GAP accomplishes this feat by emulating the discrete circuit topology of the original; how they then manage to keep the cost so low is anybody's guess.

OK, it's China; they manufacture them in China.
