Orianthi Panagaris plays guitar and celebrates Christmas at 'Carols by Candlelight', her home-town premier Christmas charity event located in an iconic central Adelaide location, Elder Park. She recalls how as a child she was part of the audience.

Carols by Candlelight's aim is to build and strengthen the community through a joyful, family Christmas event. Families bring picnic rugs, snacks and candles to the event which is held in Adelaide's (South Australia) early summer. As twilight falls candles are lit and held aloft and everyone sings along, as Christmas themed performances are presented, usually by well known professionals with strong connections to Adelaide.

The event celebrates the spirit of giving. From its inception, 70 years ago, the event has raised money for many South Australian children's charities, through the a small entrance fee, donations from attendees and sales of candles.

Performers waive their normal appearance fees and money raised by a small donation at the entrance is given to local charities. On the 70th Anniversary two children's not-for-profit organisation, the Cora Barclay Centre (deaf or hearing impaired children) and Novita Children's Services (disabled children) were the beneficiaries.
