Inshallah a Boy: a film tackling women’s rights in Jordan • RFI English

In his first feature film, Inshallah a Boy, young director Amjad Al Rasheed focuses on one mother’s brave efforts to stand up to Jordan’s archaic, patriarchal laws. Carried charismatically by award-winning actress Mouna Hawa, the film addresses the wider issue of gender inequality in society. RFI met with the director during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival where it was screened as part of the Critics’ Week line-up. It was released in France on 6 March, 2024.
