Nightmare Before Christmas - Rarely seen 'other' Stop Motion Armatures

In 1991-'92 I did work as an independent freelancer artist/crafterworker for Skellington Studio in San Francisco. I was assigned to design & fabricate the less complex stop motion armatures for the secondary background puppets wh inhabited Halloween Town. At the time, I was not able to photograph all the armatures. For some of the armatures that I do not have photos of, I have included my original hand drawn armature design schematics.

As needed, the studio sometimes requested multiple / duplicate armatures for some of the stop motion puppet characters. These armatures made over 25 years ago and the designs may not have been ideal. Short deadline schedules sometimes necessitates 'short-cut' methods! Of course, if I were to re-make these armatures today, the designs would be engineered to a higher standard and perhaps be more 'refined & sophisticated'.

4:27 - Elf Big ... Clamp plates armature torso for attaching wire arms & legs, and plug-in head

4:45 - Penguins ... Clamp plates for head & arm wires

4:57 - Kid Elves ... Clamp plates for attaching wire arms & legs, and plug-in head

5:08 - Ma/Grandma Elves ... Clamp plates for attaching wire arms, legs, & plug-in head

5:18 - Dad/Grandpa Elves ... Clamp plates for attaching wire arm, legs, & plug-in head

5:41 - The Hanging Tree ... One of bigger armatures, finished rubber skin puppet about 22 inches plus (55.8 cm) tall, to very top of branches

6:24 - Igor ... Arms/hands are wire attached to armature shoulder clamps

6:56 -Melting Man ... Hands are wire attached to armature wrist clamps

7:24 - Mrs. Claus ... Very quick scene in kitchen with changed head design, more human face (not elf looking)

7:55 - Kid Mummy ... Small & very skinny puppet was one of the more difficult, to fit very small joints

8:22 - 'One' Under Stairs

8:41 - Radio DJ & Cop

9:08 -Man in PJs

9:14 - Man & Lady in Robes

9:29 - Under Sea Gal ... Puppet arms were wire held in armature shoulder clamps

9:53 - Vampire 1 ... Wing arms/hands were wire held in armature shoulder clamps, Head separately attached

10:11 - Vampire 2 ... Wing arms/hands were wire held in armature shoulder clamps

10:29 - Vampire 3 ... Wing arms/hands were wire held in armature shoulder clamps, head separately attached

10:46 - Vampire ... Wing arms/hands were wire held in armature shoulder clamps

11:11 - Winged Demon ... Another small & thin puppet, difficult to fit small joints
