Petha halwa is the an easy to make halwa recipe especially for fasting prepared with white pumpkin, mawa and sugar. Ash gourd halwa tastes delicious when served steaming hot.

Ingredients

White pumpkin – 1 kg
Sugar – more than 1 cup (250 grams)
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Mawa – more than 1 cup (250 grams) (roasted)
Milk – 1/3 cup (3 tbsp)
Raisins – 2 tbsp
Cashews – 2 tbsp
Green cardamom – 6-7

Directions

Getting ready:

1.Peel and chop the white pumpkin, discard the seeds and grate the pumpkin chunks in food processor. Soak the grated pumpkin in water for 10 to 15 minutes. Later, strain the excess water through a sieve and repeat this process once again to remove its rawness. Chop the cashews into small pieces and stone grind the green cardamom seeds into fine powder.

Making:

2.Heat a wok and place the pumpkin followed by milk. Mix thoroughly, cover and cook the pumpkin for 5-6 minutes. Thereafter, add the sugar to it and mix properly. Now cook it in open on high flame to evaporate the juice. Stir occasionally.

3.Now add ghee to the wok and mix nicely. Cook the halwa for another 2-3 minutes. Further, mix roasted mawa, raisins and cashews in the halwa and cook for 3-4 minutes more. Turn off the flame and mix crushed green cardamom in the halwa and transfer it in a bowl.

Serving:

4.Serve this mouth-watering white pumpkin halwa after any meal as a dessert or have them whenever you crave for something sweet.
