MOMENT panicked shoppers jostled for the exits as an IKEA store was placed under flash lockdown in Shanghai, China on Saturday.

Footage shows a crowd of frantic mallgoers forcing their way through security officers guarding the doors after authorities announced a temporary lockdown of the building in the city's Xuhui district on August 13.

The order was enforced after contact tracers learned that a close contact of an asymptomatic Covid-19 case had been inside the store, but officials did not specify when the visit happened.

Shanghai Health Commisision deputy director Zhao Dandan said in a press briefing on Sunday that the store and other 'affected areas' will be quarantined for two days, with customers inside required to undergo two days of isolation at a government facility, followed by five days of monitoring.
