The 24th tropical storm of the year is taking shape near Taiwan. After forming on Sunday, the storm is expected to move south, without directly affecting Taiwan. It will however bring the current spell of sunny weather to an end. Plenty of rain is on the forecast from Sunday to Tuesday, due to strong northeasterly winds and the effects of the outer bands of the storm.

Starting Saturday night, rainy weather is expected in Northern Taiwan, the East Coast, the Hengchun Peninsula and parts of Pingtung. Torrential and extremely heavy showers could batter Yilan on Monday and Tuesday, which will ease into localized downpours in Yilan and Hualien starting on Wendesday.
