Blastocystis hominis or blasto for short is a common parasite infection in 3rd world countries been can also causing lingering symptoms for people in 1st world countries as well. Many conventional trained doctors haven't caught up to the role of chronic gut infection in conditions like autoimmune disease and even symptoms like involving the brain, joint pain, low thyroid symptoms mood and memory issues. It's easy for most people to connect parasites to causing digestive symptoms like bloating, gas, nausea, diarrhea and acid reflux. Many of the chronic health issues especially in the area of the thyroid/Hashimoto's can be partially attributed to a gut infection like blasto.
