The latest Garage Update!

It has been a bit of time and a few videos since the last garage update. In the last Garage Update, I had shown the beginnings of refurb and upgrade work that I was doing to different suspension components from my MK3 Ford Focus RS, specifically the rear trailing arms and then also the front wishbones.

The rear trailing arms were mostly done the last time, just needed some finishing touches. Since then I have done the finishing, shining up the new sparkly black paint finish and also have both rear trailing arms fully ceramic coated and ready to go!

So in this video I show you the finished product, the result of lots of hard work and I am super happy with them!

Then the front wishbones - last time I had made some progress on one wishbone, getting the old bushings and ball joint removed, starting to get new bushings in place with the Powerflex bushing all the way installed and the first part of the big Whiteline bushing in place before starting the refinishing work. That was as far as I got last time and that was just one wishbone. Since then I have got to work on the second wishbone, getting it to essentially the same stage as the first one was in last time, and then ceramic coating the first (driver's side) wishbone ready for this video!

So now I show you the last parts of getting the wishbone ready for installation - the final build up!

This includes installing the Hardrace ball joint and the big Whiteline anti-lift bushing assembly, both of which I show you and give some good pointers that will help you if you decide to do the same on your own MK3 Ford Focus RS!

The Hardrace ball joint kit is well made, fits super tightly (which is what we want!) and once the nuts and bolts are in place, looks absolutely beautiful!

The Whiteline anti-lift caster increase bushing setup also looks super cool once installed being super chunky and a very cool colour of anodised aluminium! The installation of this part was super smooth and now this driver/OS/right side wishbone is fully ready to go - I just need to get the other one finished off in the same way and then that will be both ready!

There is a down side to this Garage Update - I noticed not too long ago that the clear coat is failing on the Mountune carbon fibre rear wing extension - something that I think can be saved but will require a lot of careful work to do. Essentially the failed clear coat is flaking off and getting progressively worse so it need to be chipped off entirely before then applying a good, fresh clear coat so this process I get started on, first by removing the spoiler lip and then removing the old gunk/adhesive from the original install before moving on to removing the little Mountune badge using dental floss and then getting going with the clear coat removal!
