How to get a Regreso or permission to return to Spain

Описание к видео How to get a Regreso or permission to return to Spain

So you´ve gotten a visa to stay in Spain for longer than 3 months. You´re in Spain. But you notice your visa inside your passport is only valid for 3 months. You are in the process of getting a national ID (or TIE), which shows you are a temporary resident, but the ID card isn´t ready for pickup yet or you are in the process of renewing the TIE. You need to leave Spain for personal reasons for a certain amount of time and by the time you return to Spain, your visa will have expired. What do you do? Wasn´t that visa supposed to last a year? So can you even leave and renter or what? We´ll answer all these questions in this video on how to get a regreso (or, how to gain permission to return to Spain).

Regreso means return. A regreso is a return authorization document you get from Extranjeria or the police that grants you permission to return to Spain after an expired Visa but before you possess a TIE. A TIE is a national identity card for foreign residents.

The regreso is what you need when your TIE is in process, but you won´t return to Spain until after your 3 month visa expires. None of this is relevant if your visa is not multi-entry. It should say so on the visa. You can get a regreso if you match any of these conditions:
If you hold a residency card (like the TIE), or any official document that proves that you are legally allowed to stay in Spain
If you have begun the process of renewing or extending your stay in Spain (you will need a document called a justificante)
If you have lost a valid TIE but you have officially reported it to the office and received a proof of theft, loss, or destruction
If you can prove that you need to leave Spain for an exceptional reason that the status of your residency extension/renewal is favorable

If you already have a valid TIE, you do not need a regreso. You can present your TIE at the port of entry. Technically, you don´t need a regreso to travel within the Schengen Area, but it´s highly recommended. A regreso is also often refused by some Schengen countries.

These are the steps:
Make an appointment online
Gather your documentation
Take your documentation to the appointment
Take your regreso and passport with the visa in it out of Spain to your desired destination and show both these items upon return to Spain to the authorities
