South Africans living abroad, starting with Asia, have begun voting.

South Africa is one of only a few countries on the continent, that allows citizens abroad to participate in elections.

In 2024 the IEC has seen a record number of registered voters overseas who have applied to cast special votes, totaling around 78 thousand.
