Organic Vs Synthetic Nutrients: Which is Best for you?

Is organic or synthetic fertilizer best for your plants?

The simple answer to this question is yes, but is it best for you?

That is a very different question, but equally as important.

So, let’s have a look at why organic fertilizer is best for growing plants.

First, it is all natural and is therefore good for all the microbes in your soil.

As you continually enrich your soil, so its life is extended.

It also improves soil structure, with less nutrient run off and therefore less nutrient waste.

It gives your buds more flavour and the cannabis a stronger aroma through increased
terpene levels.

You’re less likely to burn your plants through overfeeding.

However, there is also that word ‘convenience’ which is a very seductive word for many of
us, and synthetic fertilizer is convenient as it comes ready prepared and is easy to use.
It usually works out cheaper too.

The greatest advantage of synthetic nutrients is they are quickly absorbed by plants, so can
provide an instant remedy to any chemical or nutrient shortfall.

That is the biggest drawback of organic fertilizer, and that is that the plant is slow to absorb
the nutrients in it.

Synthetic nutrients also give you greater control over dosing, but the drawback is that you
need to feed your plants more often with synthetic nutrients because of run off.

The other drawback with synthetic nutrients is that it is easy to overfeed your
plants, and that is as disastrous as underfeeding them.

Finally, apart from the fact that synthetic fertilizer is bad for microbes, which healthy plants
benefit from, it also results in a decrease in the fertility of the soil you are using, which is not
good news.

So, maybe you can see why we prefer organic fertilizer, but why we also acknowledge that
there is a place for synthetic fertilizer as well.

Let us know which you prefer and why In the comment section below.
