How to Add a PDF to Wordpress via the Media Library | WP Learning Lab

PDF documents are a great way to provide downloadable information to your website visitors and customers. Some benefits of using PDFs are: they're nearly universally compatible, they can be created in ways to ensure small file size and they are easily printed.

To get started hover over Media Library in the WordPress admin menu and click on "Add New".

You will see a dashed rectangle on the next page. Here you have the choice to either click the Select Files button to browser your computer or drag and drop the PDF onto the dashed rectangle.

Uploading a PDF is usually very fast, but the speed will depend on your internet connection speed.

Once your PDF is uploaded you will see it below the dashed rectangle upload area. If you click on the Edit link to the right of your freshly uploaded PDF a popup will present an area to add a title, a caption and a description. Do so if you like, but it's not required.

Now you can click on the Library link under Media and see your PDF in the list. You can now include that PDF in your posts and pages by using the Add Media button in the post or page editor and selecting the PDF to insert.
