The Wandering Songstress (天涯歌女) was first heard in the 1937 movie Street Angel (马路天使) where it was performed by the actress Zhou Xuan (周璇).

In 2007, Ang Lee featured the song in his film Lust, Caution (色戒).

Pictures in Motion, the latest album from the electronic group The Shanghai Restoration Project, pays tribute to classic Chinese films with a collection of twelve mostly original compositions, each inspired by a different movie from the era. Primarily instrumental, the tracks reflect the mood and themes of each film.
