French Learning- French for Beginners

THERE ARE 7 MODULES IN LANGUAGE, NOT 4!!!!

Learning French for DELF/TEF Canada/TCF Canada is usually misunderstood as being limited to the four modules: speaking, listening, reading, and writing!

There are actually seven modules that you need to focus on if you really want to master the language and reach an advanced level:

🔵Pronunciation: This is the foundation. French has a completely different system of sounds, and how well you do in other areas depends on how solid your pronunciation is. Don’t ignore this, or you’ll struggle later!

⚪Vocabulary: You need both universal vocabulary (words that you can use in almost any discussion) and theme-specific words in language (themes such as environment, health, technology, education etc.

🔴Grammar: Understanding and being able to structure simple and complex sentences, along with other parts of speech, is a non-negotiable.

🔵Reading Authentic Content: Expose yourself to authentic French material like articles, books, and subtitles. This helps you naturally pick up grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure.

⚪Listening to Authentic Content: Regularly listen to native speakers through podcasts, songs, and videos to improve your comprehension and tune your ear to the rhythm of the language and to a variety of accents and speeds.

🔴Writing: An essential skill to convey your thoughts in the form of messages/letters/articles/emails etc.

🔵Speaking: The ultimate goal- being able to express yourself verbally while being clear, confident and fluent.

Unfortunately, reading and listening to authentic content are often ignored, and then learners wonder why they can’t speak fluently. The truth is, the more native content you consume, that means the more you read and listen), the more comfortable you’ll become with vocabulary, grammar, and even pronunciation.

YOU NEED TO KNOW ENOUGH WORDS, EXPRESSIONS AND STRUCTURES TO BE ABLE TO WRITE AND SPEAK THEM!!! THIS IS A VERY BASIC THING TO UNDERSTAND IN LANGUAGE LEARNING!

Focus on all seven modules, and don’t ignore the power of good pronunciation and regular exposure to real French. Try this out regularly and thank me later!
