This melodious devotional song was composed by the great poet Rabindranath Tagore in 1884.
Through the lyrics, Tagore says . . .
The moon and the sun perform a ceremony of worship for Him with their light
Gods and humans glorify the feet
Of the Refuge of the universe Who is seated in His Temple of the World.
Immemorial times and the limitless skies are filled with that infinite glory
So, the waves swell up so often, filled with the light of joy.
Holding the basket of the six seasons, the earth pours flowers on His feet –
So many hues and so many fragrances, so many melodies and rhythms.
Birdsong fills the skies – the clouds sing and the oceans sing –
The great wind blows with joyfulness, the mountains and the caves sing too
Hundreds of devoted souls are watching this delightedly and singing songs.
Love is blossoming in the holy rays, the bondage of attachment is breaking down.

This song is based on Rajhans-Sarang Raag.
Its rhythm is based on Chou-taal, which consists of 12 beats.
The Akarmatrik notation of the song was written by Kangalicharan Sen and Dinendranath Tagore.
