Sanforization is a process of pre-shrinking fabric before it's made into a garment.

Sanforization is a treatment for fabrics to reduce shrinkage from washing.

The aim of the process is a cloth which does not shrink significantly during production, cutting, ironing, sewing, or especially, by wearing and washing the finished clothes.

This process forces the yarns closer together and the fabric becomes thicker and heavier and the dimensional stability of the fabric improves.

It is widely used in the textile industry, especially for cotton and denim products.
