Black-backed jackals are members of the Canidae family. They are about the same size as a Fox and co-exist with some of the most formidable African predators. Even though they can't compete with lions, leopards, Wild dogs, hyenas and Cheetah, they sure fill a niche in the African bush. Being very opportunistic and working in pairs they can hunt small prey but also scavenge whenever possible.
