UTI, Chronic Inflammation & Immune System Response: Dr. Indira Mysorekar

Описание к видео UTI, Chronic Inflammation & Immune System Response: Dr. Indira Mysorekar

Dr. Indira Mysorekar is a Professor of Medicine whose lab group has made a number of significant discoveries in microbiology and microbial pathogenesis of UTI. One of these was the finding that E. coli can persist in reservoirs in the bladder and re-emerge to cause symptoms. This finding was a huge step forward for recurrent and chronic UTI research.

This interview answers the following questions and more:

👉 Can you see inflammation, biofilms, or an embedded infection via a cystoscopy?
👉 What is cystitis cystica and what does it look like on cystoscopy?
👉 How can chronic bladder inflammation and chronic UTI be differentiated?
👉 Could long term bladder inflammation lead to more serious conditions in the bladder?
👉 Is it possible to break the cycle of inflammation and infection?
👉 After a UTI, how long does inflammation in the bladder typically take to subside?
👉 Does repeated use of antibiotics have a negative impact on the immune system?
👉 How does the immune system deal with foreign objects such as an indwelling catheter?
👉 Are there any treatments or natural remedies that might provide helpful immune system support for those with chronic bladder infection?
