View the narrow-gage Westside Lumber Company with three teenagers and a home-made speeder in this amazing saga of Nick Muff's adventures, shown here in both still photos and home movies. It all took place over three summers in the early 60's, when Nick really wanted to photograph the railroad in order to model it. Many books and videos have been published about this famous three-foot gage logging railroad which ran three-truck shays into the 60's, but few have captured the entire right-of-way from a modeler's perspective as Nick has. The way he tells it, it's a real "Huck Finn" coming-of-age tale of life winding along the tracks and trestles! The resourcefulness of these three teenagers out in the wilderness is astounding! He also shares photos of many of the historical artifacts from the Westside in his personal collection, and takes Q&A with the audience briefly at the end.

The 3000 photos and home movies that Nick took during these trips are available on a 2 CD collection. For more information on how to obtain a copy, contact Nick at [email protected] .

In his modeling pursuits, Nick ended up in his adult life modeling the standard gage railroads in and near the famous Kansas City Union Station, which you can watch him describe in another (equally amazing!) video that is available on this channel as    • Nick Muff MMR Layout Tour for Skagit ...   .

This video was recorded during the April 19, 2021, Zoom meeting of the Mount Vernon monthly clinic of the fourth division of the Pacific Northwest Region (https://www.4DPNR.com) of the National Model Railroading Association (https://www.nmra.org), chaired by Ted Becker and edited by Burr Stewart.
