1. SOUNDBITE (French) Emmanuel Macron, French President: ++STARTS ON WIDE SHOT OF DEFENCE MEETING AND ZOOMS IN++
"The strikes that the United States and Israel have been conducting against Iran since yesterday morning have led to an unprecedented regional escalation. The missile and drone attacks launched in response by Iran, in a completely disproportionate and indiscriminate manner, have hit military facilities and numerous civilian targets among our partners and allies in the region.”

2. SOUNDBITE (French) Emmanuel Macron, French President:
"In this context, our priority, as I mentioned yesterday, is the safety of our citizens, obviously our military and diplomatic facilities, and the citizens living or staying in these partner countries. I thank the ministers and teams for making progress based on yesterday's instructions, and we will provide a detailed update, country by country on the situation, both to protect and to be able to repatriate as soon as the airspaces are reopened.”

3. SOUNDBITE (French) Emmanuel Macron, French President:
“Then it’s about the security and sovereignty of our partners in the region. The United Arab Emirates is by far the most affected and exposed. Qatar is also heavily targeted. All other countries in the region have been hit. In the United Arab Emirates, we have a hangar at our base adjacent to the Emirati base that was hit in a drone attack targeting the port of Abu Dhabi. The damage is only material and limited, with no injuries to report. But all this also leads us to enhance our posture and defensive support, to stand alongside those with whom we have defence treaties and to adapt our posture to the developments of recent hours, which nothing justifies and which we will not let pass.”

4. SOUNDBITE (French) Emmanuel Macron, French President:
"From the very first hours, we took responsibility. Indeed, to protect our citizens, our interests, and to stand by the countries in the region, and we will continue to do so. I hope this meeting allows us to examine all the options. Also, look at the dynamics of the operations and strikes, the developments in Iran, and the developments in the region. Finally, we will assess the situation nationally, the risks as we evaluate them, and obviously the economic consequences of this conflict. Thank you very much.”
