What is DSC?
DSC is an alternate to the traditional wet signature. Due to digitalisation, there have been a lot of procedural changes while submitting certain documents with various departments. DSC is used for digitally signing those documents. Signing with DSC is treated on par to a physical signature on the document.
Where is DSC used?
In today’s scenario, GST, Income tax returns, ROC returns, Tender applications, Import export code application, while submitting PF and ESI returns and many other company related operations are filed with the help of this DSC.
How to get one DSC?
DSC generally comes with validity ranging from 1 year to 3 years. The most popular one is 2 years. These DSCs are issued by Government certified agents who can be approached directly or with the help of your CA/CS.
Who can apply for a DSC?
DSCs can be taken for both individual and Organisations. Generally when a person is getting appointed as a Director in a company, DSC is taken to sign in his DIN application. DSC is also linked with the applicant PAN and Aadhaar number and is considered highly secured. Also, before the DSC is applied, the applicant must ensure his PAN and Aadhaar is linked, else the DSC application will not get processed.
How will a DSC look?
DSC is physically stored in a token which looks like a pen drive. It can be used after entering the password.
