The Cabana Beach - Cozumel, Mexico ⇛ Full Beach Club Guided Tour

On a recent cruise, I spent a day at The Cabana Beach in Cozumel, Mexico and I was thoroughly impressed. I wanted to spend the day at The Cabana Beach because of the private cabanas and the fantastic snorkeling experience it offers and it was exceptional.

The Cabana Beach is located south of Chankanaab Park in Cozumel and was is about an 6-7 minute cab ride from the cruise terminal. This exclusive and private beach club is dedicated to delivering comfort and tranquility to its guests and features 12 cabanas that offer varying capacities to accommodate any size group. There is a bar and kitchen that serve up authentic Mexican and international food and drinks all delivered directly to your cabana by your personal concierge.

Each cabana has a covered and non-covered area and more than enough seating for six (6) people on a decked area of the beach. A foot bath is a the base of each cabana and two padded sun loungers are in the non-covered area. A high top table and two stools stand in the middle area and offer partial sun coverage then you move into the back of the cabana were you have an L-shaped outdoor sofa and ceiling fan for your comfort. These cabanas come with other conveniences as well including electric plugs, WiFi, snorkel gear, towels and a welcome fruit platter and guacamole.

There are two VIP Cabanas that offer even more amenities and can accommodate groups of eight (8) people. Additional amenities include; private area, hammocks, picnic table, a bali bed and shower space. The VIP cabanas are number one (1) and ten (10). You can access the map on their reservation page.

We opted for Cabana # 9 because it was close to the bar, kitchen, washrooms while still not too close that we'd have people walking by constantly. I also liked that it had a direct path to the stairs into the ocean and it did not disappoint. Upon arrival we were greeted by Peter Beach and his team and were given a tour of The Cabana Beach prior to being taken to our cabana for the day. The welcome fruit and guacamole platter was the perfect way to start our day. They even hooked me up with a little pico de gallo which is my favourite. Our concierge was always there when we needed another beverage or wanted to order some food. The lunch was fantastic. I had the Cowboy Fries, again, pico de gallo and my traveling companions had the Shrimp Tacos and the Pancho Burger. The portion sizes were large but not too large and we were all satisfied after our meals.

I'd be remise if I didn't share my thoughts on the beach, ocean, sand and snorkeling that The Cabana Beach offers. The entire beach club is made up of beautiful powdery sand but there is no formal beach (ie: no gradual water entry) as this spot was selected by the owners because of the uniqueness of its water entry. To enter the water you must take stairs that take you over these amazing rock formations and when you enter the water you can be anywhere from five (5) feet to eight (8) feet deep. This is a snorkelers paradise as The Cabana Beach area is home to many fish and other marine species. If you swim over to the right toward Chankanaab Park you'll also find some neat statues in the water.

I would recommend The Cabana Beach for anyone looking to have an exclusive experience when in Cozumel. This place is perfect for couples or families that want a private space to call their own that offers a high level of personal service. I also recommend it for adults traveling together that want an upscale day that offers privacy when you want it and fun with others when you want it (mingle at the bar, in the water). I did not have my young daughter or wife with me on this cruise but I am excited to bring them here on our next cruise. At The Cabana Beach you get the best of both worlds as you're surrounded by sun and sand while the ocean is just steps away and offers some of the best snorkeling I've ever experienced.
