Sarah Kroger is a Nashville-based, Catholic Worship Leader and songwriter passionate about building bridges between denominations. Kroger’s love for music was sparked at a young age but the impact of bullying and her struggle with anxiety and shyness hid her musical gift for years. Everything changed when she met Jesus in an intimate encounter through worship at a youth conference and we’re so glad she did. Not only is she a gifted Worship Leader and songwriter, but her commitment to unity brings a needed voice to our community.

1 Corinthians 1:10 says, “I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.” There’s so much division in the world these days, as we all know, that our goal as a familh of Believers should be to show the world how we bring unity to our own faith circles given our Scriptures continuously call us to that place of common ground.

There's been a lot of confusion around Catholics, I think, when it comes to in Protestant circles and at least in my own experience, when I was in college, I had a lot of Protestant friends who were actively trying to convert me, like over and over and over again because they felt like my faith wasn't enough. They felt like I needed to justify myself or why I believed things that I believed.

And I've been a Catholic my entire life from the time that I was born, my parents were involved in music ministry. And so we were always involved in ministry, in the church, always leading worship, in a sense, in the Catholic circles. And so I never I've never felt like, oh, Protestants are different than me. And we have all these different camps and we need to be separated.

Like I've always wanted unity. I've always felt like God's original design was for us all to be together. And yet there's- it's just so easy for us to kind of fall into our own little camps and be siloed and and be divided by the things that maybe- theological points that we don't always agree on. But actually, if we stop to think about it, I think we would all be able to recognize that there's more that unites us than divides us.

There's a lot more that we agree upon that we have common language in. We all believe in the same Holy Spirit. We all believe in the same Jesus, in the same God, the Father. And so really coming together around these ideas that unite us rather than the things that divide us, that's really a desire on my heart as a Catholic worship leader is to be a part of that; building bridges.
