BSNC is pleased to share another video in its educational series titled Mazzaq Tigittuaq, Iñupiaq for “sunrise.” This series of educational videos celebrates the culture and knowledge of Our People. In this video, learn to introduce yourself in Iñupiaq from BSNC shareholder Josie Tatuaq Bourdon in the Kingikmiutun (Wales, AK) dialect.

Bourdon has taught for more than 30 years and continues teaching the Iñupiaq language and culture, whether through the radio, volunteering at the school, teaching Iñupiaq classes through NWCC or teaching interns at BSNC. She continues to work on revitalizing our Iñupiaq culture and was recently honored by the Alaska Legislature for her 30 years of public service at Nome schools and in the Bering Strait region. She continues to be a role model and mentor to the Bering Strait region's Elders, peers, and youth. Bourdon is the daughter of Iġaġiina and Atqaq, David and Ester Bourdon of Nome, Alaska.
