Hello folks!! Welcome to our 2016 Toyota Tacoma hood with hood scoop conversion to the TRD Pro style. This video is similar to our 4Runner TRD Pro hood conversion video or just any hood removal and, or install. As you can see, the hood is perfectly fine but the customer wanted to have that cool TRD Pro look with the hood scoop. This truck has been raised a couple inches, so it makes the process a bit more difficult for an already heavy hood. We recommend getting assistance for this job if possible. It's much easier and faster with help.

TOOLS NEEDED:
You will only need a 12mm socket wrench for this job. If you plan on reusing the old weatherstrip at the front of the hood, you'll need a panel clip remover or flat screwdriver.

PROCESS:
You want to start by opening the hood and securing it with the hood latch. It is recommended that you put some sort of protection down on the fenders in case you hit it with tools or the corner of the hood. You would not want to chip the paint or scratch your fenders. We are putting 3M tape alongside the fenders for protection. You want to start by disconnecting the windshield wiper hose from the reservoir. The hose is rubber and is connected by a hard plastic joint. The joints can get brittle and break easily, so be sure to disconnect them. Like any standard hood, it is held in place by 4 bolts on each side. Remove only the top two bolts connected to the hood. DO NOT remove the bolts that are securing the hood latch to the frame. Removing the bottom bolts can cause spacing issues in the installation process and can take up extra time to fix. Once one side is removed, it will cause stress on the other side, so it will take a bit longer to get the bolts off. Once the bolts are out, be careful removing the hood.

If you do decide to do this solo, be sure you prop the hood up with a 4x4 or something large enough to prop the hood up. Place a blanket on the corner of the windshield and cover the corner of the hood while you remove the bolts. Please ask someone for help, it's much easier.

And that's it, folks! You did it!
