If this is the first teardown you've seen, I've done well over 150 others over the last 3 years! There's a good chance I've torn down the engine you want to see!
Today's teardown is a 2.7L Ecoboost from a 2015-2017 Ford F-150. This engine is a core return which means a salvage yard sold a good used engine and charged a "core" charge which is refunded when the old engine is returned. That's where I come in. This engine comes from Robertson's Used Auto Parts up in Mapleton IL. Unfortunately I don't know all of the details on why this engine was replaced but thats why I'm here. I tear these engines down to not only salvage the good parts, but to figure out what happened. Kind of an automotive murder-mystery.
Why am I doing this? My name is Eric and I own and run a full service auto salvage yard in the Saint Louis Missouri area called Importapart. Part of our model includes buying failed engines and dismantling them to salvage the good parts to resell. We do not rebuild engines, merely supply parts to those who do!
