Japanese raw selvedge denim has become renowned as the best denim in the world unanimously, which is quite the title to uphold. Especially since raw denim enthusiasts rarely ever agree on anything. Yet somehow, Japanese denim and Japanese selvedge denim has won the hearts of the raw denim jeans subcategory, and there is a large history as towards why.

The Osaka 5, or the Osaka Five, has long been known to have been the breeding ground of raw selvedge denim jeans and raw denim jeans, with the Osaka 5 comprising of 5 brands that largely popularized Japanese made and perfect raw denim jeans.
