Shadow Work - Live From Midtopia

Shadow Work out of Denver, Colorado isn't your typical DIY touring band. Their unique take on indie, psych-rock seems to weave in a lot of jazz influence especially in the drumming by Ben Zickau. The opening tune of this session 'Abelia' features an insane tapping bassline from Joseph Szlanic. The band moves around the space in a smooth manner that radiates genuine passion and creativity that beautifully contrasts the technical playing from each member. Vocalist Rafael Nava shines on 'Peek A Boo' with a heartfelt vocal performance amidst his ambient style of guitar playing. The buildup and groove on this track makes 'Peek A Boo' a definite highlight of the session. The trio finishes this session strong with 'Fox in the Coop'. Shadow Work showcases a raw mastery of their genre and the strong work ethic necessary to make a splash in the DIY touring world.
