🪴 This is an unedited, real-time garden video filmed in Shizuoka, Japan. The camera is left running for about an hour on a cold winter day as garden work and outdoor cooking happen side by side. There is no narration—only natural outdoor sounds.

In the backyard, my wife Yumiko and her sister Yoko use a small outdoor grill to cook yaki-imo (roasted sweet potatoes), make yakitori, and grill mochi rice, later enjoyed with sweet bean soup. Smoke rises slowly in the cold air while the dogs supervise closely, moving in and out of the frame as the morning unfolds.

At the same time, I work in the bamboo forest behind the house, clearing and opening a narrow walking path through fallen leaves, cut stalks, and winter growth. The work is steady and practical, focused on making the space passable and more open as the seasons begin to turn.

The sounds are simple and layered—fire crackling, bamboo shifting in the breeze, tools at work, quiet conversation in the distance, and the muted stillness of a winter garden shared with family.
