We begin with a rare Irish Masonic sword featuring an ivory handle, brass scabbard, and intricate Emerald Beneficial Association etching on the blade. The Irish harp engraved directly into the scabbard makes this antique military sword a truly Irish artifact, perfect for collectors of Masonic history or Irish regalia. Next, Dave showcases an exceptionally rare wartime Irish cobbie hat from 1945, complete with original feather and cap badge, made by Hewer in Toronto. Unlike the more common Balmoral, this Irish cobbie was worn by the Irish Regiment of Canada, making it a rare Canadian military headgear collectible.

From there, we travel back to the Boer War with a Scots Tea tin dated 1900, a South African military collectible in remarkably preserved condition. For over 120 years, delicate metal tins like this have often been crushed or rusted, but this example remains a fine survivor of colonial military history. Following that is a Colonial gift chocolate tin from Trinidad, Grenada, and St. Lucia, once containing cocoa and military-themed ribbons. Although weathered and worn, it remains a tangible link to the global reach of the British Empire during the early 20th century.

The Irish Regiment of Canada theme continues with a charming doily featuring a silk-screened badge, a rare example of textile-based Irish military memorabilia. Dave also presents an ID wallet bearing an Irish Regiment cap badge, ideal for collectors seeking personal artifacts tied to Canadian Irish soldiers.

One of the highlights of the haul is an Imperial German 1st Guard Dragoon Regiment sword, a true piece of Prussian cavalry history. This blue and silver blade features elaborate etching, including cavalry scenes, the Prussian eagle, and the Guard Dragoons emblem. Despite some rust, its craftsmanship and regimental markings make it a rare and desirable Imperial German weapon.

Also featured is a transitional infantry sword moving from the Victorian era into the reign of George VI, complete with a Calcutta, India maker’s mark and a sharkskin grip. This combination of British military design and colonial manufacturing tells the story of the far-reaching influence of the British Empire’s armed forces.

From the Italian campaign of World War II comes a 1944 souvenir piece made for the Irish Regiment of Canada. Decorated with a Fifth Division lapel pin, a Canadian Volunteer Service Medal ribbon, a sweetheart badge, and the regiment’s cap badge, it’s a multi-piece handcrafted keepsake brimming with wartime sentiment and history.

The final piece is a Victorian Royal Irish Dragoon Guards helmet. While heavily worn, with missing liner and loose fittings, it retains its historic charm as a rare example of 19th-century military headgear. The plume, rosettes, and original leather construction, though in rough condition, reflect its age and service life.
