Flaming Ouroboros (US) - Anthems for Brotherhood (Album 2023)

It's finally upon us, the grand debut full-length by Flaming Ouroboros!

As I've said before, M.O. (Nightfall Dissension, Ethereal), head of The 333 Guard, is undoubtedly one of the most interesting and inventive artists in the dedicated underground currently, and one of the few still actively upholding the value of the riff, and Flaming Ouroboros is definitely where he's most triumphant, and that can be said particularly with these "Anthems for Brotherhood"

More glorious than ever, this album definitely showcases the project's most accomplished and varied songwriting to date. Still with FO's typical saccharine melodic triumphalism that can be said to have a similar essence as projects like Vothana, Eisenwinter or Totale Vernichtung, but it's definitely in a cathegory of its own, as it manages to channel the energy of the sun while grasping a sense of melancholy and tranquility in power which is very much singular. Also I'd say, while the band's themes and imagery has definitely nietzschiean and pagan elements, that pagan nature is definitely sonically more present in this record, particularly in songs like "Heliacal Worship".

Definitely more present than ever here are also elements of Noise Rock and Punk's cunning grin and acrid unapologeticness which also bring to mind Ghost Kommando and is definitely present in some of the noisy and dissonant arppegios, and the blistering rocking leads.
