Plowing With Draft Horses and a Walking Plow/Horse Drawn Manure Spreader/Update on Prince

Описание к видео Plowing With Draft Horses and a Walking Plow/Horse Drawn Manure Spreader/Update on Prince

With Memorial Day coming, it's time to get gardening here in our neck of the woods in Minnesota. To do that, Alan's Dad works his garden differently than most people. His horsepower is the real kind. Stub, a Belgian Gelding, and Cookie, a Percheron Cross Mare, get to work. To warm them up and take the edge off a bit, the first thing the team does is unload a load of manure using a 100-year-old horse-drawn manure spreader. After that, it's time to get plowing. Leonard, an award-winning teamster throws the lines over one shoulder and under the other arm to steer the horses while guiding the plow. The horses are eager, but after a few rounds, they settle into the work. After that, a quick harrowing to smooth out the soil. Harrowing with draft horses is a job as everyone is walking in deep soft dirt. The horses quickly work up a sweat, so after the job is done, they each get a quick bath. After drying off, they go back out to pasture. We also give a quick update on Prince after his castration.
