At an extreme altitude of 5,600 meters, we tackled the life-threatening descent from Gondogoro La Pass — one of the most vertical and dangerous sections in the Karakoram. The slope was loaded with thousands of loose rocks, frozen in place only by nighttime ice. Knowing the sun would soon release them, we made our descent in the dark, relying fully on ropes, knots, and technical mountaineering skills.

In one critical moment, a falling rock sliced through our fixed rope, forcing us to improvise. Without the option of a figure-8 device, we used two carabiners and bare-handed control to continue the descent. Despite the immense risks, our team managed to reach Khuspang base camp safely — a testament to discipline, teamwork, and the strict use of safety protocols under extreme conditions.

This descent on Gondogoro La highlights the raw reality of high-altitude mountaineering: split-second decisions, dangerous rockfall, rope management under pressure, and the thin line between survival and disaster.
