802.1X is a standard which defines rules for authenticating users to access wired/wireless network. It is Port-based Network Access Control (PNAC) standard.
This comprises of three entities:
Supplicant
Authenticator
Authentication Server
Association using Open authentication by 802.11. Association using open authentication locally and ultimate authentication occurs at Authentication Server
