European wildlife – Noble crayfish (Astacus astacus)

The European crayfish (Astacus astacus) has become an endangered crustacean in the Czech Republic. The cause of this are mainly water flow regulations, water pollution and a water mold called crayfish plague spread by invasive crayfish species. Therefore the opportunity to film the crayfish in a forest stream where they still survive in high numbers was an extraodrinary experience.
