In this video, I explain why I collect vintage watches.

Firstly, they offer their own value as items of a different time when styles were different and, I would argue, more reserved and elegant.
Secondly, they offer a watch collector a less expensive path to mechanical watches - especially manual wind watches which are usually heavily discounted compared to their automatic or "selfwinding" counterparts.
Thirdly, they offer the wearer a physical connection to history. If they could talk, what tales would they be able to tell about the times they witnessed?

There are pitfalls to be certain: relative fragility and less water resistance, the likelihood a vintage watch is in need of a servicing which could be quite expensive, and lack of any kind of warranty by the seller.

I do not advocate the buying of vintage watches and this video is simply my feelings on the matter and why I enjoy them. Anyone interested in vintage watches should research the subject before making any purchases of any kind.
