📕 Born into wealth, Klaas Bruinsma's descent into a criminal empire began with his father’s cruel lessons on trust. Known as "the Tall One," Klaas harbored deep resentment, fueling his ambition to surpass his father. By his teens, Klaas had plunged into Amsterdam's drug trade, capitalizing on the city’s booming dope scene. Teaming up with Thea Moear, daughter of a notorious mobster, they created a powerful hash empire, importing tons of the drug from Lebanon, Pakistan, and Morocco.

Bruinsma’s operations ran like a corporate machine with divisions for violence, narcotics, and money laundering. His rise to power was marked by brutal enforcement, including ordering hits on rivals and treacherous partners. Despite setbacks, like a botched assassination attempt that left him betrayed and furious, Klaas remained undeterred. His violent streak extended to his personal life, culminating in a deadly gunfight that almost landed him a life sentence, saved only by Thea’s cunning.

By 1990, Klaas was Europe’s preeminent drug lord, orchestrating the largest hash deal in history. However, his empire crumbled when authorities seized 45 tons of hash, dealing a devastating financial blow. Paranoia and cocaine addiction consumed him, leading to erratic violence. Klaas's reign ended violently on June 27, 1991, when hitman Martin Hoogland gunned him down, marking the bloody fall of a criminal kingpin.
