Learn how to make eggnog from scratch with this simple, classic recipe! This recipe comes from the Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book which is from 1944. You can substitute whatever alcohol you want in it or leave it out entirely. Use pasteurized egg products if you don’t want to use raw eggs. Just add a fresh grating of nutmeg to the top before you enjoy this classic beverage!

Eggnog

6 eggs, separated
¾ cup sugar
1 pint milk
1 pint cream
1 pint whiskey
¼ cup Jamaican rum
Fresh nutmeg for top

Whisk the egg whites with the sugar until stiff peaks form. Set aside. Beat the egg yolks until they are thick and lemon-colored. Gently fold the egg whites into the yolks. Add milk, cream, whiskey, and rum and gently combine. This recipe says you can then serve the eggnog from a punchbowl or directly into cups. Add a grating of fresh nutmeg to the top before serving.
